Hundreds of photos and thousands of letters started pouring out on the internet once the world found out that BMW will go front-wheel drive and yet, here we are, contemplating not one but two such cars not even a year later. The Germans are serious about their plans and want to introduce two variants of the 2 Series Active Tourer, for every possible need.
We’ve seen them out testing the 7-seat model a number of times and we were intrigued every single moment. The problem was not that we saw just how MPV-ish it looked but rather because of how small the differences were.

If it wasn’t for the camouflage we probably wouldn’t have noticed anything different on these cars. However, there are key aspects that have been changed that give it away.

Automotive manipulator, Theophilus Chin, saw an opportunity here and quickly got to work, trying to put together a long wheelbase version of the original 5-seater. Needless to say that the changes are minor, just as we’ve seen in our spyshots.

Basically they are limited to the rear quarter and the C-Pillar. The last window as well as the last panel seem to have grown in size ever so slightly, making room for two extra seats in the back.

Even so, the people sitting in the last row of seats would have to be either extremely small or children to fit, let alone travel for longer journeys. However, since this is an MPV, it will most likely be used by ‘soccer moms’ that will find it absolutely perfect for their needs. They would also be part of that new demographic BMW hopes to attract with its new models so everything seems to be falling in place. We’re still rather reluctant though, how about you? Would you consider buying such a car?
