BMW has recently trademarked a number of car names for future models and it’s become very clear that they will indeed move the smallest coupe they offer to the 2-Series name. The new car will be a bit wider than the current 1-Series coupe, and the styling will be different from the 1er.
The engine range will include various four-cylinder petrol units and will top off with a 300 horsepower six-cylinder 235i model.
Since BMW has revealed that the M135i will come with optional xDrive all-wheel drive, it’s reasonable to expect this is also the case with the 2-Series, since many coupe owners now demand the added safety.
Either way, we’re excited to see this rendering by Roger Lighterness, which show a masculine that looks like a smaller M3, not a budget coupe. We’ll have to wait and see what sort of numbers the 2er delivers, but BMW never disappoints.
