Mark Wahlberg has been making some rather good movies lately, getting more and more critical acclaim. Whether you like comedies or thrillers, this man proved he can do them all over the course of his career. Now, he’s bringing out a new movie, called The Gambler.
As you might guess it from the title, the story revolves around a man that has a hard time controlling his urges and staying away from casinos and just generally bad, dangerous places. The big deal for us is the car he’s portrayed driving in the film: a BMW 1M Coupe.
When it comes to gambling, people tend to do it in so many ways it’s hard to keep up. Some choose the old fashion way, doing it in a casino or at a poker table while others, go for a wider variety. If you ask me, the one way I like to gamble the most is with a car that has way too much power on the rear axle.
That’s almost how the BMW 1M Coupe is. In stock guise, the Bimmer comes with a 3-liter bi-turbo engine making 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque that can go up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque thanks to overdrive. We wouldn’t call that way too much power but it’s plenty to get you in trouble, real quick.
It’s basically like gambling with your own life as the 1M Coupe is known to be a frisky little car and has been known like that for quite some time. The truth of the matter is, with a little tuning you can reach heights you never imagined. But let’s not digress.
We told you about this movies because the 1M Coupe is in it and we can’t but congratulate the producers for their choice. The 1M Coupe was built in limited numbers (6,331 units in total) and only 983 of them ever reached US soil.
Prices for a mint one have been going through the roof due to their driving characteristics and enthusiasts are still waiting for a replacement. Lucky for them, BMW is already working on it and it’s going to be called ‘M2’. Look for it in late 2015.
