BMW is preparing to refresh the model range offered in the UK and for the 1-Series this will mean, among others, the introduction of a new entry-level diesel version.
We are talking about the BMW 114d, which will be powered by a “calmed down” version of the carmaker’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel, which delivers 95 hp and a peak toque of 235 Nm (lb-ft). The vehicle is already available for other in both 3- and 5-door versions, but the pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

The BMW 114d promises to return a combined cycle efficiency of 65.7 UK mpg (54.7 US mpg or 4.2 l/100 km) and emit 112 grams of CO2 per km. As for the performance, here’s where you’ll pay the price for the aforementioned efficiency - the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint is covered in 12.2 seconds, while the top speed sits at 115 mph (185 km/h).

We’d advise you not to choose this version however, since BMW’s Efficiency Dynamics technology, a standard feature on all models, allows multiple versions of the 1er, which also come with superior performance, to offer reasonable efficiency.

Since we’re here, we’ll mention that BMW’s Efficient Dynamics includes Braking Energy Recuperation, Active Aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tires, Auto Start-Stop, Optimum Shift Indicator, as well as an ECO PRO driving mode that plays with the ECU map and the climate control system in order to boost efficiency.
