BMW 1 Series M to Reach Oz This Summer

Having produced perhaps one of the most anticipated M models in recent years, the Germans from BMW have no plans to take it easy and let all the excitement fade away. The model will be sold in pretty much all the markets the car maker is doing business, with the roll-out plan announced bit by bit.

This week, BMW revealed plans to launch the model in Australia sometime this summer but, unfortunately for the fans, only in a limited number. Or, to be precise, only 100 units of the model will go Down Under, a number secured by the local division thanks to the brand's penetration, as BMW Australia’s Piers Scott was quoted as saying by BMWblog.

“Because we have the highest penetration of BMW M sales in the world, we have managed to secure 100 cars for Australia – although I would think they will be in hot demand,” he said.

A day ago, BMW sources from the Canadian operations unveiled that the model would be sold in Canada and the US starting this spring, in limited numbers as well. According to the sources, the car maker will ship 600 units to the US (priced at $47,010) and only 200 to Canada (prices not yet announced).

The 1 Series M, which will be produced according to BMW in as many units as required, comes equipped with a 3.0l in-line six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine which develops 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque.

The car is equipped with a huge array of safety systems, including Dynamic Stability Control, brake assistant Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), drive-off assistant, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), anti-fading function and dry brake function.
