BMW 1 Series M to Be Driven by Lucky Few

The slow, slow unveiling of the BMW 1 Series M continues, this time with a bit more info rather than more entertaining photos. Inspired by the way in which modern-day products are being launched and advertised, BMW is preparing a special launch sequence for the 1 Series M, or the 1M.

Using the M-Power website, BMW has selected 12 lucky individuals to test drive a prototype of the model on November 18, somewhere in Germany, on the carmaker's expense. BMW warns however than any filming or photographing of the car is prohibited; this, however, doesn't stop us from expecting more than a handful of photos to surface soon after the event.

“We promised that with a little bit of luck you could have the opportunity to be one of the first to drive the BMW 1 Series M Coupe,” the carmaker says on the aforementioned website. "The time has finally come: twelve interest parties who have registered on M-Power.com will have the chance to drive a prototype of the BMW 1 Series M Coupé themselves on 18 November 2010.“

According to the little info available so far, the car will be powered by a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine developing 345 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque. The unit will be paired to an M-DCT transmission, but a manual transmission version will be on the counter as well.

We'd love to tell you more is to follow in the days to come, but we already did that several times and, yes, we were wrong. Be sure however that once we learn something, you'll do tell.
