The 2015 BMW 1 Series facelift was just launched and is about to take over as the cheapest car you can buy (brand new) with a blue and white roundel on the bonnet. This title comes with its own pros and cons however and the official launch film created by the German brand for the new hatchbacks aims at showing you the pros.
They include a new design, more standard equipment and a completely new range of engines. The design and standard equipment (like the automatic climate control, iDrive or the 6.5" screen) are being showcased in the video but as for the engines, not much could be done.

However, the 1 Series will indeed appeal to the younger demographic out there for a couple of reasons. First of all, it is comprised of two hatchback models: the 3-door and 5-door. That means that mobility is key here and not interior or luggage space.

That may very well work for when you’re in your twenties but as time goes by and your family starts to grow, you might need a little more room.

Second of all, the price is just right. Of course, by many standards it just too high but let’s not forget that this is a premium car after all and is basically the only one in the segment that comes with rear-wheel drive.

The new engines might be smaller but they offer plenty of power and torque (down low too) for any purpose and any given situation. Furthermore, BMW claims that on the facelift, the fuel consumption went down by 20 percent on average and that’s a big improvement. Of course, you shouldn’t expect to get the exact numbers written in the car’s owner’s manual but they should be close.

Bottom line, the 1 Series has the potential to become the brand’s top selling model even though that spot is currently held by the 3 Series. Up until now, the design was the one that kept people back but since that’s no longer an issue, we could expect sales to go up once the new model reaches showrooms in March.
