Blink Chargers Getting into Your Home

ECOtality, the leader of America's biggest EV charging infrastructure endeavor, The EV Project, announced today that it had begun installing the first units of the Blink home chargers at residences in the state of California.

The units, manufactured by muscle car specialist Roush, is a smart EV charging station which comes complete with power management, a 7-inch color touchscreen control panel and a configurable design.

“With the first installations of Blink home charging stations, we are laying the foundation for a new electric vehicle lifestyle, not only in California but nationwide,” said Jonathan Read, ECOtality CEO.

“Today marks an important step for ECOtality, as we move from planning to implementation, and we thank our initial project partners for their efforts in building the infrastructure network needed to encourage EV adoption. We will continue to rollout our smart Blink EV charging solutions to match the delivery of EVs in project markets.”

The first installations made today will soon be followed by the expansion of the program in Portland, Seattle and Arizona. The units are part of the $230 million plan to install 15,000 chargers in 16 cities across the US over the following years, to support the launch of the EVs.

ECOtality's Blink chargers received the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listing and are compliant with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Federal Code of Regulation (CFR) Part 15C, pertaining to radio and frequency emitting devices.

The Level 2 charging station refers to 240 volt standard electrical outlet, which would allow the “full” indicator of the battery to be reached in between 2 and 6 hours.
