Who said that you can’t buy a Tesla Model S if you’re a rock star? Nobody, and Blink-182’s bassist Mark Hoppus just proved that the moment he decided to buy one for himself. The famous artist recently posted an image of his new green ride on Twitter, thus joining a long line of celebrities driving Elon Musk’s popular EV.
In case you’re too young to know what we’re talking about, maybe you should try Keeping Up With The Kardashians instead. Blink-182 might just qualify for one of the world’s coolest rock bands ever to exist and not knowing about this fellows is something that we just can’t accept.
OK, we’re obviously joking, but our point is that this fellows are anything but people who care about the environment. Well, at least that is the image they’ve build up since 1992, when Hoppus’s sister introduced Mark to Tom DeLonge and, together with drummer Scott Raynor, they formed the famous punk rock band.
Blink-182 produced several indie recordings and toured exhaustively before signing to major label MCA to co-distribute their sophomore effort, 1997’s Dude Ranch, which featured the Hoppus-penned hit “Dammit.’ After replacing Raynor with Travis Barker, the trio recorded Enema of the State (1999), which launched the band into multiplatinum success, becoming the biggest pop punk act of the era.
The band split in 2005 only to reunite in 2009 and release two new recordings and tour worldwide. Aside from his musical career, Hoppus has had multiple successes behind recording console, producing records for several groups. Co-owning two companies, and opening a clothing line, starting a TV career and recently forming a new band called Nothing and Nobody, the famous bassist has definitely outline himself.
You see, the days when rockers would ride Harley bikes and wear black leather clothes could be over.
