We reported earlier on the endeavor of Dan Parker, a blind motorcycle racer who brought his trike at the Salt Flats in Bonneville, to make history.
Becoming the first blind man to race at Bonneville, Dan is assisted by a GPS tracking device which monitors his direction and position in relation to the racing strip. As he strays from the center line, the GPS triggers an audio signal in the headphones Dan wearing in his ears.
With the volume in the headphones being proportional with the offset from the center line already plotted on the GPS, Dan can return as close as possible to the optimal trajectory.
Parker was clocked above 55 mph (88,5 km) during first presence at Bonneville. With Dan himself declaring that he's got another new goal in life, we're so looking forward to see him riding faster and setting an inspiring example for so many other, whether they are riding or not.
