Distracted driving is an issue which goes much deeper than you might think, with the latest example that comes to demonstrate this being a link between last week’s BlackBerry blackout and a significant drop in accidents that occurred at the same time in the Middle East.
You see, in the period that the BlackBerry servers were out (between Tuesday and Thursday last week) traffic accidents in Dubai decreased by 20 percent, while those in Abu Dhabi dropped by 40 percent.
The aforementioned info was published by The National, which also brings is a statement from the head of Dubai Police, Dahi Khalfan Tamim, who explains that distracted driving leads to minor and moderate accidents, but can also be a source of fatal crashes.
