Since Bimota is getting its nerve form BMW engines, taking one more daring step in this direction could prove to be a more as smart as it sounds interesting. So here’s the boxer-powered Bimota, definitely one of the last ideas which would’ve crossed your mind.

Building inroads to other segments than pure sport motorcycles, the Bimota BB-S could be a truly lucrative idea. It packs the racing heritage of the Italian machines, and the tech solutions provided by the Bavarian manufacturer, and such a combination sounds rather alluring. A bike with a comfortable, yet sporty riding stance would find great useability both on the track and for everyday commuting, being a machine one could ride to work, for city errands, leisure round-the-town blasts and more.

The new liquid-cooled 1200cc-class BMW engine produces power and torque on tap, and if the R1200R can make great on-street use of the boxer, we can’t see why the Bimota couldn’t do the same. With minimalist bodywork involved in the project and the trellis subframe, the bike would also be a pretty lightweight one, which should make things even better.

Of course, the Bimota fans could frown at it and say it collides with the classic Bimota DNA, bit unfortunately, it turned out that too much conservativeness and inertia have not been the best for certain Italian brands. So using proven technologies to open to new directions could be an interesting way of reviving the brand created by the late Massimo Tamburini. Whining constantly and day-dreaming of ages past is not taking things anywhere, anyway.
