Billboard Ad For the New Shelby GT350R Says Your Car is More Important than the Kids

Someone spotted the first billboard ad for the new Shelby GT350R and after seeing and reading it, we realize there are more (smarter) ways of promoting a car rather than putting its performance up front.

This doesn't mean specs are not necessary for such a model, but you must come up with something catchy if you want to make the client pay $61,370, without including the destination and delivery fees.

So how about a punch line involving children, college tuition, and a pretty big step in their development. As you've probably seen by now, the billboard says "let the kids pay for their own college."

The next thing you see is a Shelby GT350R, which kind of allows the devil on your shoulder to whisper "go for it, buy the car you've always dreamed of."

We agree that the temptation is even harder to resist these day, after we've seen how the GT350R can perform on the track, in the hands of Ford test driver Steve Thompson, who unleashed the steroids-overdosed pony car on the Grattan Raceway and managed to lap the circuit in the same time as a Porsche 911 GT3, while beating the Camaro Z/28 by one second.

So you see, for this kind of performances some may be willing to jeopardize the future of their kids. The question is, what would you do? Buy a minivan and watch your kid get that degree and become a successful lawyer, or buy the Shelby GT350R and let you offspring learn about life the hard way?
