Bill Goldberg’s Cobra Has a NASCAR Engine That Sounds Perfect

Bill Goldberg reminds this writer of the late 1990s wrestling, back when people would still wonder if all the moves these big fellows performed in the ring were fake or not. Sure, nowadays the 48-year-old sportsman is more into cars and restoring old beauties to their former glory than faking broken bones, which is actually the reason we have gathered here today in the first place.

Funny fact: we’ve been looking for recent interviews with the 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall former wrestler, and we stumbled upon this gig he did with GQ. The guy tells Goldberg he’s been working out, to which Bill replays he can tell since he looks almost as big as his wife.

What we’re trying to say is that Goldberg may look like a big, scary guy, but he is, in fact, quite a funny fellow. A sense of humor is one thing you need if you want to be a full-time petrolhead; love for powerful engines is the other. The former NFL player has them both, considering that one of the things he’s been keeping his days busy with involves some garage activity.

As we said, aside from hosting Garage Mahal on the DIY Network, Goldberg also likes to restore his own cars. The most recent contraption to visit the aftermarket magus is a Cobra replica. Goldberg decided to upgrade it after he smoked the previous clutch in his custom muscle car, complete with Elliott NASCAR engine. He decided to upgrade to a Centerfold Dyad DS dual-disc system, and he asked for some help from Centerforce’s Will Baty and former MMA/UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett.

For a two-time world champion in WWE, the 48-year-old car aficionado is not into the type of cars you’d think. Judging by the looks of his auto style, instead of pompous SUVs or customized Sprinters, old-timer muscle cars seem to be the right thing for this fellow, and we can’t but tip our hats to that.
