It looks like accidents caused by drivers stupid enough to ignore the basic safety regulations happen in pretty much the same way, including Panama.
This video was recorded by a security camera, and shows just how bad things can go in less than a second, when not checking the road before doing an u-turn. All the driver should have done to avoid cutting the rider off was take a second or two to inspect the road to his right and notice the incoming motorcycle.
Unfortunately for the rider, he thought such a thing is completely obsolete, so he barely slowed down before turning. Despite the very violent crash and the rider being thrown through the air several meters, we're glad to see him back on his feet.
Again, it's really hard to say the driver simply made a mistake: his mistake was huge, and given the severe crash and all the surveillance evidence, we hope the legal consequences will have taught the driver a good lesson in road safety.
