Bike Dealer Advocates LED Lights on Motorcycle Frames

A bike retailer and rider in Martinsburg, West Virginia, Bob Cunningham is putting up serious efforts with the state legislators to pass a bill which makes LED lighting elements attached to the frame of a motorcycle legal.

Cunningham, who has only had an accident in more than 40 years he has been riding, was ticketed recently for riding with aftermarket LED lights installed on his 105th Anniversary Harley, and is trying to make a change.

He is being helped by West Virginia Delegate John Overington, also a rider himself. Other riding delegates in the Roads and Transportation Committee co-sponsored the bill and it was run through the state house last year, but as budget bills took precedence, it's kind of back to square one.

However, as Overington has already dome some demonstrations for the delegates, we might see additional lights becoming legal in WV, which is a very good base for further action.

Unfortunately, we all just know there will still be plenty of SMIDSY excuses even if one carries a flaming comet on the bike...
