We here at autoevolution love electric motorbikes, as we think they are a very efficient and quick way for us to transport ourselves into a greener future, and since such bikes are no longer conventionally powered they should not look conventional either.
Meet the Biiista, an awesome and funky and futuristic in a ‘i-found-a-post-apocalyptic-oil-drum-and-beat-it-into-the-shape-of-a-motorbike’ kind of way. It is a stunning and very modern piece of design, having been developed by Austrian company Hammerschmid Maschinenbau since 2010. It’s a fresh take on what a motorbike can and should look like. With the handle bars disappearing into the body of the bike without the possibility of moving them, steering is accomplished by swiveling the handle bars which are connected to one another (you move one, the other one moves in the opposite direction) - it’s brilliant.

Sadly, performance is not the Biiista’s strong point. Its 14hp electric motor is good for pushing it up to a speed of 96km/h (60mph) and its 80-volt battery pack gives it a range of just under 100km (62miles).

With its Bimota Tesi steering and suspension system, post-apocalyptic oil drum styling with a matte finish and a Citroen HY style striations, coupled with its green credentials and decent range, we think it’s an awesome bit of kit - we really want one!
