Japan will be the first country to benefit from the upcoming “Big Data Traffic Information Service” that Toyota started working on.
This cloud-based service will be based on a system similar to the telemetry ones found in race cars, that will collect vehicle locations, speed, road conditions and even areas where certain safety features like ABS or traction control are deploying more often.

Accessible through PC, tablet or smartphone, the data system will come in hand for local governments and businesses to improve traffic flow, road safety and even to provide useful informations in case of emergencies.

Japanese clients wishing to test the “Big Data” system can apply at Toyota starting today, June 3rd, while the existing similar less permissive software G-Book will receive an upgrade in order to access the cloud information.
