Bianchi Will Not Become Active at Ferrari in 2010

Jules Bianchi did sign a contract with Ferrari for his future in motor racing, but the young Frenchman will not have any role in the Scuderia's Formula One team for the 2010 season. The 20-year-old racer completed a 3-day rookie test with Ferrari last week, at Jerez, and was signed by the Italian team after his very first day on the track.

The hurry in Ferrari's inking that deal led many to believe that Bianchi may become the team's new rising star for the upcoming campaigns. Therefore, a test/reserve driver role within the Ferrari organization would have been the perfect way to start off at Maranello, after which he would have had a shot at making the F1 lineup in 2011 or 2012.

However, current Ferrari tester Giancarlo Fisichella recently announced that his test/reserve driver role within the Maranello outfit is secured for the 2010 season, which leaves Bianchi outside the F1 team completely. In addition, when asked by the media what are his plans for 2010, the Frenchman admitted that focusing on his future GP2 career is he most important thing for now.

“I am thinking about my first season in GP2. After that, we will see about the future and F1,” said a quite mature Bianchi, according to French newspaper La Tribune.

His successful test at Jerez not only got him a future in the Ferrari organization, but also a racing seat with ART Grand Prix in the 2010 GP2 Main Series. The French outfit is ran by Nicolas Todt, none other that the son of newly-elected FIA president Jean Todt and manager of drivers like Felipe Massa and Sebastien Bourdais.

As for Fisichella, the Italian is still searching for a racing spot for next season, as he was announced by Ferrari that his place in the Maranello team is secured no matter his plans for 2010. Recently, the Roman veteran has been linked with a drive for Sauber F1.
