Some believe the 500-mile-long NASCAR Sprint Cup Series motor race held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida is one of US’ bests racing events, while others don’t really like the idea of race cars spinning in a circle. Point is it’s part of the country’s history, which is why FOX Sports and YouTube multi-channel network GarageMonkey have launched the #MyFirst500 social media campaign, which features stories of racing fans and professionals’ first Daytona 500 experiences.
Like it or no, we’re almost certain you’ve watched at least one episode of the series that changed the way we think of soap series. In Spanish, they call them “telenovelas,” but Americans rather like to call them “drama series”. Whatever the name is, we’re sure you remember Fox’s famous Beverly Hills, 90210 show. Ian Ziering is best known for his role as Steve Sanders which he played for 10 years.
One of his latest projects is the 2013 movie Sharknado and he also appeared on Celebrity Apprentice on NBC this year. What you most likely don’t know is that the 50-year old actor is also a great race enthusiast.
In fact, he even tried to go professional, racing a Mazda MX-5 a couple of times, yet he never proved to be good enough to get some sponsors backing him up, so he decided to let others do it.
Ziering was one of the people invited to talk about his #MyFirst500 Daytona experience and since he’s not really a racer, we’re guessing the actor is part of the fans category. The father of two is seen washing his gorgeous Chevrolet Corvette C1 while talking about the unique feeling the famous racing event gives you.
