After securing the charging station sector in Denmark and Israel, Better Place (BP) are extending their influence into the southern hemisphere, closing a deal with Holden, in Australia. The deal allows BP to start building charging stations for the Holden Volt, recently launched in Aussie.
However, unlike the systems already operational in Israel, for instance, BP will not provide battery-swapping services, as the Volt is a range-extender, and it doesn’t really need battery swapping as it has back-up power from the gasoline engine.

The charging stations will be installed in the most efficient possible places, as well as at Holden dealers, and according to BP, they plan on using as much energy from renewable sources as possible. With the company now reporting more than 1,000,000 km (625,000 miles) driven in EVs powered by their services, we expect their Australian venture to be a successful one.
