It looks like Nicky Hayden's rather poor performance during the first MotoGP test of 2014 at Sepang, was also caused by insufficient knowledge on the Open class software Magneti Marelli provided the former-CRT teams with.
Gp-inside talked to some guys who seem to know more on the software controlling the Open class MotoGP bikes and their opinion should bring better hopes for all the Open grid, including the Kentucky Kid.
Namely, what was thought ot be only a generic wheelie control setup is in fact pretty similar to what factory software uses, though not as sophisticated.
This means that mechanics can make turn-by-turn adjustments and add way more control and stability to the Honda RCV1000R production racer Hayden rides.
And with Aspar's technicians having previously worked with either Aprilia or Honda, thus having zero knowledge on the Marelli software, some of the bad laps seem to be explained.
Now that all the teams know this detail, the second test in Sepang should bring in even more fun.
