Bette Davis Owned a Shelby GT ... And it's Available for Sale

While you collect your jaws off the floor we'll take the time to talk some more about the special edition Shelby GT that his affectionately dubbed “Black Beauty” and has been on display at the Petersen Automotive museum. Who would have thought that screen idol Bette Davis had a thing for muscle cars?

Apparently, the car was a special order made by Davis herself on her 72nd birthday to a Ford dealership in the Los Angeles area. Not only was she into muscle cars, but she also kept this hobby until her old age. Cool! Talk about driving miss Daisy!

Her car is right now going under the hammer along with other six vehicles, also famous models in an event that will benefit several charities. The asking price should be something good because this car is a Special Edition, out of which only 100 were ever produced. This version is number 8 and it comes with all the sales receipts, original license plates, owner I.D. and correspondence.

The proceeds will go to the Lili Claire Foundation, a special organization that benefits children living with neurogenetic conditions. Some of the other cars that will be sold in this year's Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Las Vegas, include the 2008 Barrett-Jackson Edition Shelby GT, Kurt Busch's No. 2 Dodge Charger, a 2006 Mercury Volga Milan and a Ford Mustang GT from 2006 tricked out by Funkmaster Flex.

Considering that the event takes place in Las Vegas, it's bound to attract some high rollers and make a pretty penny for some people who really need it. The actual bidding will take place on Saturday and will be covered by Speed TV.
