If you are a well-to-do individual with a passion for classic British cars, then Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island auction is the place to be this coming March. The famous house will be returning to Northeast Florida for its 2011 event.

Coming to the event are a number of significant pre and post-war automotive designs, including the first 1949 Jaguar XK120 Alloy imported to America, a stunning 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Sedanca Drop Head Coupe by Gurney Nutting and a 1962 Lotus 23B vintage racer formerly owned by famed driver Brian Redman.

The 1949 Jaguar XK120 Alloy being offered in March is one of the oldest surviving examples and also the first XK120 ever imported to the U.S. and the only example finished in Blue Sheen paint. Its first owner was the distinguished New York foreign car dealer and racing enthusiast Max Hoffman.

A 1962 Lotus 23B will also go under the auctioneer’s hammer at the Florida event. The car was formerly owned by the legendary British race car drivers Brian Redman and Bob Snodgrass of Brumos Racing and has enjoyed many miles of vintage racing.

"We achieved great results and received a tremendous positive reaction following our 2010 Amelia Island Auction. Our team is thrilled to return to the enchanting Omni Amelia Island Plantation this March, when we will be bringing more of the world's very best examples to auction," says David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company.

Last year, Gooding & Company auctioned off over $16 million (GBP10 million) in classic automobiles at the annual event, including a $2.75 million (GBP1.76 million) 1931 Voisin and a $1.7 million (GBP1.1 million) '61 Porsche RS61 Spyder formerly owned by Sir Stirling Moss. The March 11 auction will be held at the award-winning Omni Amelia Island Plantation, commencing at 5 p.m.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
