Bentley’s Bentayga is only the start of the company’s SUV range.
Wolfgang Duerheimer, the brand’s CEO, has confirmed development work on a sporty version of the Bentayga. The model is a performance-oriented version of Bentley’s SUV, but the company has yet to receive the green light to develop a production variant. The sporty version of the Bentayga will feature a profile inspired by a coupe, but it will maintain its practical features.

Along with the new performance-oriented approach, the new SUV would have a different look. As the brand’s CEO has stated, the car will look like the SUV variant of the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept shown at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, Automotive News reports. This would mean that traditional design cues will be left aside to make room for a more modern approach.

The new version of the Bentayga is designed with younger consumers in mind, who desire a luxury SUV but with a sport twist. The vehicle could come to market in 2018 or even 2019. The deadline is linked to the launch of equivalent models from Maserati, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce.

Thanks to the sporty version of the Bentayga, Bentley could have a new luxury product in its range when competitors launch similar models, ensuring the brand from Crewe has an answer to the market’s latest trends.

However, it is worth remarking that the sports version of the Bentayga will not be cheaper, on the contrary, it will be priced higher than the world’s most expensive SUV available on the market today.

The British brand achieved sales of over 10,000 units in the last three years, and the introduction of the Bentayga is expected to bring a new sales boost. The company’s officials predict an output of almost 5,000 Bentayga SUVs for 2016.

The volume is incredible compared to the sales results of the last three consecutive years, as it would mean that Bentley would increase its sales by 50% this year, along with its production. Since all Bentley cars are hand finished, the effort implied by this sale offensive is impressive.
