Bentley Touring Superleggera Flying Star Production Boost

First unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show last year, the Flying Star is the creation of Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera. Based on the Bentley Continental GTC chassis, the Flying Star is a luxury tourer, whose production is limited to 19 examples.

However, since the shooting brake debuted and its order books opened, Touring has only made three examples of the Bentley shooting brake, as it took 4000 hours of handwork go into each model. The third example will make its first appearance at the Qatar motor show from January 25 to 29.

If you are not familiar with the term “shooting brake.” it is used to describe a two door station-wagon/estate.

Now, according to Autocar, Touring Superleggera plans to increase production of the Flying Star after investing in extra tooling, technology and members of its workforce. The investment means that five cars can now be built in parallel, but it will still take six
months from order to delivery.

At a price tag of around $800,000, all Flying Stars will be manufactured to personal specifications and feature power outputs ranging from 552 bhp to 621 bhp, delivered by the twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine.

Other highlights of the Flying Star include foldable individual rear seats, which can create a plain loading space over two metres long, steel rear wings, extended roof paneling, aluminum door skins and an all-alloy, as well as an electric powered tailgate.

The oval rear light chrome bezels are a reference to Bentley fastback cars of the '50. The side view features a low roof, prominent quarter panel shoulders and wide wheel arches. Also, the twin individual rear seats fold completely to create a flat loading surface more than 2m (6 feet) long with a 1200 litre capacity.
