A storm. This is what the Bentley Continental GT prototype in the adjacent images felt like when it was flying around the Nurburgring - our spy photographers recently caught the test vehicle doing some hot laps.
The car appears to be a Continental GT V8 S, but this is no standard model. As you can see in the images, the vehicle is wearing some aerodynamic elements which, for a Bentley, are rather extreme. Thus, we could see Bentley offering a street version of the GT3 racecar.
Up front, we have a splitter, while the boot lid now supports a rear wing. Like we said, the size of the aero bits is extra generous. Their integration within the coupe’s body isn’t very deep, but this is only normal, since we are talking about a test vehicle.
The obvious speculation is that Bentley is looking to offer an even spicier Continental GT V8. While some have jumped to call this the RS, we don’t see such a designation as being very likely. Should Bentley actually come up with a spicier V8 model, they will probably give it a proper name, in the same manner that sees the range-topping W12 model wearing the Continental GT Speed moniker.
Moreover, the RS tag would bring Benley way to close to Audi’s RS range. And speaking of the German carmaker, we’ll remind you that, as far as Bentleys go, there’s still some unexplored potential with their 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8: Audi takes the engine to 560 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), the V8 delivers up to 528 hp and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) under the Bentley badge.
We’ll be back on this Flying B matter as soon as we get more info.
