Bentley Ice Speed Record Car to Star at 2011 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

The world’s fastest convertible on ice will make its UK debut at the 2011 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (CPOP), which is scheduled to take place July 15th to 17th, 2011. A founding sponsor since 2008, Bentley has also recently agreed to sponsor the celebration of power and speed held at the Cholmondeley Estate, Cheshire, until 2013.

“We’re extremely proud to see Bentley extend their support and are looking forward to showcasing one of the world’s most powerful and exciting cars of recent years – the  record-breaking Bentley Supersports Convertible,” said James Hall, Event Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

With the four-time world champion rally driver Juha Kankkunen at the wheel, the Supersports Convertible last month set a Guinness Book of Records world best of 205.48 mph on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.

The luxury British carmaker will also showcase award-winning cars like the new Continental GT and its new flagship, the Mulsanne. There will also be an ample opportunity to see the 2003 Le Mans winning Speed 8 as it powers around the event’s circuit.

The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power will be more action-packed than ever in 2011. Dozens of celebrated vehicles, from the Jordan F1 car which Giancarlo Fisichella piloted to victory at the Brazil Grand Prix in 2002 to motoring legends, such as the Lancia Delta Integrale WRC Martini rally car, will be seen on display and powering on the track.

Alongside the automotive action, there will also be displays of motorcycles, helicopters, powerboats and hovercrafts, as well as a live army combat simulation. “The explosive display of British Army combat power will feature tanks, troops and field artillery all engaged in a breathtaking battle simulation,” states a CPOP press release.
