British automaker Bentley has revealed further details about its upcoming Continental GT3 race car. Revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show as a concept car, the GT3 is being developed with M-Sport Ltd. and will have very little in common with the Continental road car.
According to the Volkswagen-owned company, the Continental GT will be powered by a race-prepped twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that will send its horses to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox. In addition, the vehicle will be fitted with a double wishbone suspension, four-way adjustable dampers and competition brakes. FIA-approved roll cage and a carbon fiber racing seat are also on the list.

Furthermore, the GT3 will be at least 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) lighter than the road-going Continental thanks to wide range of carbon fiber body parts. The new race car will begin testing shortly, with more details to follow.

“Motorsport is an integral part of Bentley, and the performance and endurance qualities of all of our road cars reflect this racing heritage. Not one single part of the GT3 has escaped our attention, and the result is a car that can compete with the field in terms of factors such as power, weight and aerodynamics.”
