Bentley Continental GT V8 Video Released

Bentley today introduced the 2013 Continental GT V8, with both the coupe and the cabrio (GTC) models scheduled to greet the public at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The adjacent video shows the new Bentley being put through its paces on dry tarmac, as well as on snow & ice, where its four-wheel-drive system is being pushed to the limit.
We’ll remind you that the new engine is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter direct-injected V8 unit that produces 500 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 487 lb-ft (660 Nm), which is offered between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm.

The unit comes with a cylinder deactivation system, which is one of the features that should allow it to deliver on its promise of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 40 percent compared to the W12 engine.
