Bentley Continental GT: V8 Sound at Goodwood

When Volkswagen took over Bentley in 1998, we thought they would ruin everything. And for some time now, in some ways, they did put their boring German patina. However, the Continental GT has been a huge hit for the Crewe factory, partly because it works and partly because it has the British coachbuilt style inside.
Plenty of rappers and footballers, plus most recently the Chinese, bough the W12 sports luxury coupe on mass. Journalists complained about the lack of feel, the bulk and the shamefully quiet exhaust. Bentley’s answer finally came when they introduced a 500 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine developed by Audi.

Not very many people have gotten to experience the sound of the V8 luxury/sport combo Bentley was promising. However, thanks to a video shot by Shmee150 at Goodwood, we can show you what the car is like under racier conditions, at the Goodwood Hillclimb circuit in the UK.

The car sounds like it wants to maul you under acceleration, but is extremely quite on flybys.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
