Bentley Continental GT Burns to a Crisp, Still Looks Majestic

Bentleys are not cars that need to be explained and yet we can’t help but share a few thoughts on the burned down Continental GT in the adjacent images. The Conti GT is such a royal piece of vehicle that, even after being almost entirely consumed by a fire, it still looks mighty elegant.

This is a 2006 example of the car, which means we are dealing with a pre-facelift example. We are not aware of what caused the fire, but the only parts that weren’t completely destroyed by it are the front fascia and part of the hood. The vehicle is currently found in a salvage yard on Greenwell Springs Road, Los Angeles. Its actual cash value is estimated at US$ 56,657, while the expected repair cost sits at US$ 41,473.

Still, we’re not here to talk about that. Instead, we’re asking you to take a good look at the defunct grand tourer. Now mentally compare it (or use your browser for this) to any burned down supercar. While a Ferrari or a Lamborghini lose their visual aura once they are eaten up by the flames, the Continental GT’s silhouette still stands proud.

Alas, the story is entirely different when it comes to the cabin. It’s not often that one gets to see a... stripped-out Bentley interior, even though we did recently showed you one, coming from the 3,000 hp Continental GT street-legal drag racer.

Bentley cabins rely on their acres of wood and numerous cow hides, but now the interior has been left in bare metal and there’s nothing here to catch the eye.

The minimum offer on the vehicle is US$200, so perhaps some aficionado decides to grab this former Bentley and turn it into a form of art. The Flying B mascot’s fingers are crossed.
