Unveiled before a private audience at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Bentley Mulsanne Convertible concept won't become a production car, the UK-based automaker revealed earlier this month.
Speaking to Car and Driver at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Schreiber said a production version of the Mulsanne Convertible has been axed over lack of demand.
"We will not do that car. The demand for a Mulsanne convertible is just regional. So if it would come, it would be very successful in the US and maybe some regions in Europe, but I think that will not be enough demand for a good business case," Schreiber told our source.
Car and Driver points out that Bentley sold only 1,169 Mulsannes last year and that investing more money into developing a convertible model that will sell less examples than the coupe wouldn't make much sense.
