Bentley's first-ever SUV will feature body panels made in Slovakia after VW announced plans to expand its Bratislava plant as the Bentayga is nearing the start of production.
The Bentley Bentayga SUV will most likely go on sale next year, but until then, preparations are being made in order for the unusual Bentley to be alive and kicking by that time.

In this respect, Volkswagen Group will allocate €500 million (around $529 million at current exchange rates) towards the expansion of their Bratislava plant, according to Automotive News Europe.

As you might know, this facility is already supplying bodies for the Porsche Cayenne SUV. Moreover, the group's minicars (VW up!, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii) are also built in Bratislava, along with the Touareg and Audi Q7.

The new car-body production line will serve exclusively the upcoming Bentley Bentayga, but VW's Slovakian facility will only focus on producing body panels for the SUV.

These bodies will be sent to Bentley's factory in Crewe, England, for final assembly, as the British company will produce the rest of car in its home territory. The Crewe plant will also be upgraded so everything will be up and running when the Bentayga is sent into production.

Our carparazzi caught Bentley's first ever SUV on two occasions, and at a first glance, we found some similarities with the Audi Q7 in terms of exterior design. That is only normal, as Bentayga's underpinnings (VW's MLB platform) are the same used by its Audi counterpart and the Porsche Cayenne.
