Bentley Bentayga Speed Drag Races G63 AMG and Cayenne Turbo

SUV drag racing has become a big part of automotive culture, and it's time to check out another contender for the crown, the Bentley Bentayga Speed. Without the Lamborghini Urus here, we can't tell you if it's the best, but the Mercedes-AMG G63 and Porsche Cayenne Turbo are still worthy contenders.

Bentley says the Bentayga Speed is the fastest SUV in the world, with a top speed of 190 miles per hour (306 km/h). But just because it's fast doesn't mean it's quick as well. Under its hood is the biggest engine in a mainstream European car, the 6-liter TFSI making 635 HP and 900 Nm of torque thanks to its twin turbochargers.

The British SUV is said to do 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, despite its 2.5-ton weight. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was supposed to be its main rival, hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph) thanks to its the Hellcat-derived, 707 HP 6.2-liter V8. However, there was a problem with the car, which is also pretty rare in Britain.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo is based on the same platform as the Bentayga. In fact, you can even get the same 550 HP 4-liter V8 in the Bentley SUV. Down on power, the German model is the lightest model here if you exclude the Suzuki Jimny... which is here just for giggles.

Finally, there's the Mercedes-AMG G63. Now, the old model had no place in a drag race, but this is lighter with a 4-liter bi-turbo that enjoys quick responses and slightly more power than the Porsche. In fact, Carwow did an off-road SUV drag race where the G-Class showed us just how capable it was on the rough stuff.

As for this current shootout, the Bentayga Speed is the winner. The Cayenne is almost as fast, proving that the Bentley is just for people with unlimited money that want to show off. But we already knew that.
