The Steartech stand at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show was among the most interesting. The usual tuning projects were joined by cool refinements, such as champagne glasses and subtle interior lighting, the kind Bentley does.
So we aren't surprised one bit by the fact that the all-new Bentayga SUV feels right at home in the Startech customization laboratories.

It's going to be a long and very complex tuning process for an SUV that's been under development for an equal duration of time. However, we are pleased to report that we like everything we see.

So far, Startech has played with the stance of the Bentayga by changing the wheels and looked at what could be done to the engine. And what an engine this is. Despite emissions regulations clamping down hard, Volkswagen approved the development of a brand new 6-liter W12 engine with twin turbochargers.

With a replacement for the Phaeton nowhere to be seen, it looks like Bentley is going to have all the spoils. But so far, the monster unit remains relatively silent, especially from the cabin.

That changes with the latest sports exhaust system developed by Startech. Of course, it's got butterfly valves, so in normal mode, it sounds just like every other car. However, with the pipes open, the 12-cylinder orchestra can be heard more clearly.

Putting ourselves in the shoes of an average Bentayga buyer, we wouldn't mess with the car just yet. There aren't that many around, and most celebrities haven't even heard of the Bentley SUV yet. So tuning for the sake of exclusivity is pointless.

However, a sports exhaust is just what you need to get more out of the ownership experience. Given the background of this vehicle, we wouldn't expect anybody to go off-roading in this car, not unless he or she enters the Baja rally or something of the sort. So all that Startech custom steel and titanium should be safe for a while.
