You guys probably just came here for the photos, but we can't have you leaving empty-handed... or empty-headed, depending how you look at it. The Bentley Bentayga Coupe makes about as much sense as covering a watch in gold and diamonds, which is precisely why it will probably be built. But that will happen later rather than sooner.
Recent reports from British automotive media suggest the Bentayga Coupe has been approved for production, together with a new sportscar and a hardtop version of Santa's sled. Who are we kidding here? Bentley is a small company that relies on backing from Volkswagen Group. We seriously doubt the new chairman or the investors will agree to spend hundreds of millions just so soccer players can have their Bentayga and Continental GT all mixed into one.

But just look at these two renderings by RM Design! The Bentayga is the type of SUV that grows on you. After years of loathing the idea of a Bentley 4x4, we now like the uber-rich Breitling on wheels appearance.

Thanks to styling elements borrowed from Bentley's other models, this Sports Activity Coupe looks twice as appealing as the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

The Bentayga's one and only engine is a new 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 that develops 605 horsepower. It's matched to one of those 8-speed automatics from ZF. No, it's not as sharp or intuitive as the Porsche PDK, but it does the job.

Bentley will likely fix the lack of excitement with a special edition performance model. Because, in this day and age, it is perfectly okay to lower an SUV and install a carbon fiber chin spoiler that scrapes the curb, we might even see a 700 horsepower version of the Bentayga. But does that really matter when the British bruiser weighs as much as 2.5 Miatas?

Once that happens, you'll see Arab billionaires throwing their checkbooks at Wolfgang Dürheimer to build them this sexy X6 fighter.
