Bentley Bentayga 0-187 MPH Acceleration Test Proves SUV's Effortless Top Speed

When Bentley started working on the Bentayga, its engineers already had tremendous experience with concealing a vehicle's weight, both in terms of actual performance and in-cabin feel.

After all, while your eyes might tell you there's a massive on-scale difference between the SUV and the Continental GT, only a few hundred pounds separate the two.

This means that, despite its size and 5,379 lbs (2,440 kg) weight, the Bentayga has amazing velocity abilities. And we're here to show you what that means in the real world.

To be more precise, the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, which comes from Auto Bild, shows the behemoth being put through its paces on the German Autobahn - the W12 SUV is subjected to a test involving the car accelerating to its 301 km/h (187 mph) maximum velocity - keep in mind that this currently makes the Bentayga the fastest SUV in the world. And, as we mentioned in the title, the sprint is covered effortlessly.

Now, before we invite you to allow the clip to do its job, here are a few figures that define the 600 hp (608 PS), 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) Crewe vehicle.

We'll start with the $229,100 machine's 0 to 60 (96 km/h) time, which sits at under four seconds. As for the quarter mile, this is covered in 11.9 seconds. When it comes to the 0 to 155 mph (250 km/h) run, the 6.0-liter SUV will leave this behind in a little over 28 seconds.

The lavish SUV also comes with matching stopping power, as it can deal with the 62 mph to 0 deceleration test in 11 feet  (33.9 meters).

In fact, the slowing down task mentioned above is a straight line task that sees the Bentayga being outgunned by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which comes with a stopping distance of 108 feet (33 meters).

P.S.: It shouldn't be long until we get to see how the still-testing Bentley Bentayga diesel, which borrows the Audi SQ7's triple-turbo (electric compressor plus twin turbos) 4.0-liter V8 handles such acceleration tasks.
