Bentley has recently announced its sales for 2011 and it seems that the carmaker has returned to the pre-recession levels during the past year, with the company registering a serious increase in all important markets.
The British carmaker managed to convince a total of 7003 customers last (calendar) year, with the figure being translated into a 37 percent increase. As for the December sales, these sit at 1,059 units, a 69 percent increase over the same month of 2010 - this makes last month the best one for Bentley since the carmaker’s pre-recession record of 2007, as well as the company’s second best month ever.
The US has remained Bentley’s main market (2,021 cars), registering an increase of 32 percent, being followed by China (a first), which doubled its sales to 1,839 units.
In Continental Europe, sales jumped 53 percent to 1,187, with Germany leading thanks to an increase of 88 percent. The UK and the Middle East might have not promised much, but they both managed to register growth.The Continental GT was obviously the most popular model, accounting for more than a third of the company’s sales in 2011.
“It has been a tremendously good year for Bentley. The dramatic sales growth reflects a global strength to the Brand and a recognition of the quality, craftsmanship and engineering excellence of our cars. It has been particularly pleasing to see renewed interest in Bentley in established as well as and new and emerging markets, all of which is contributing to a positive financial result for 2011,” said Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Wolfgang Durheimer.
