Ben Spies Rumored to Have to Choose Between WSBK and a Ducati MotoGP Production Racer

Paddock winds brought in some whispers on a rumored "ultimatum" for Ben Spies: according to GP One, the Texan rider should decide whether he will accept a Ducati offer for the World Superbike or remain in MotoGP. The same source mentions that Spies' MotoGP machine could be a D16 "production racer" spec.

In case Spies goes to the World Superbike series, he could become the team mate of Chaz Davies, who currently rides for BMW. However, the Germans announced they'll pull out from the WSBK after the season ends, leaving their actual riders unemployed, or, in a more optimistic way, free to chose their teams.

Ducati is having a rather hard time with their Panigale in the WSBK as the bike development progress is very slow and results kind of fail to arrive at a decent rate.

Things are even worse as it looks like Alstare will walk away from the partnership with Ducati. Fancois Batta, Alstare's manager mentions that his expenses with the team are growing too mcuh as sponsors start to back off and the conditions for a collaboration with the Borgo Panigale factory in 2014 are less and less favorable.

Ducati is rumored to shake hands with Feel Racing, who is currently involved with BMW. Some whispers even see Ducati making serious efforts to bring Masao Furusawa in. Furusawa is the genius behind Yamaha's M1 machine and Ducati hopes he could work his magic in Bologna, too.

Spies, who was unable to ride for most of the current season due to injuries, is said to have until Sunday, October 6 to make a call. We'll be on it, so check back with us.
