Jeep has released a special edition Renegade crossover that's inspired by one of this year's big superhero movies. No, it's not the Deadpool edition; it's the Dawn of Justice Special Edition.
Dawn is the time of the day when the sun rises. However, this Jeep is as dark as one of Batman's cars. It's not particularly smart product placement, but we'll let it slide for now. Know that the model is based on the Renegade Latitude trim level and features Granite Crystal or Carbon Black exterior with gloss black accents. 18-inch alloys come standard with scratch-prone paint on them.
The Renegade plays a small part in the movie, as we learned from the commercial below. When Bruce Wayne sees General Zod trashing the city with his giant laser pointer, he rushes behind the wheel of the Renegade, dodging explosions, rocks, and flames. All this, apparently, just to save a little girl.
Somehow, seeing Ben Affleck's version of Bruce Wayne driving the Jeep makes it look like a clown car. We understand that Chrysler wants to sell this crossover, but a billionaire will never use the Renegade, not even by accident.
"We need you to rush in when everyone else is running away," the imposing narrator's voice compels us. The only problem is that all the people who want to be superheroes... are ten years old.
The kids are going to love that the Renegade Dawn of Justice Special Edition comes with black seats, a black dash and mental diamond accents. And even though you can't drive like Batman, parking will be easier thanks to a reversing camera. Unfortunately, the Jeep doesn't run on Kryptonite, instead offering a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine making 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. As part of the $26,125 manufacturer's suggested retail price, all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic are also thrown in. You could get a mustang for that, but you'd miss out on showing how your car saves the day to your friends at every Magic: The Gathering event.
