Pro Star is the latest addition to Bell's helmet line-up, and after watching the introduction video, we'd say that it represents another door open towards the future. With a long history in manufacturing helmets for both power and "unpowered" sports, Bell delivers the Pro Star as the herald that announces a new era in head protections.
The Pro Star appears to be the synthesis of the efforts from numerous departments and brands under the Bell umbrella, together with their top specialists. The Pro Star helmets integrate the most advanced technologies Bell developed to date and summing them up provides us with a picture that is quite appealing, to say the least.

Multiple new technologies have been infused in the new Pro Star lid, and they are working together for increased safety and wearing comfort, as Bell reports. The Pro Star brings news both on the inside and on the outside, and we love such things each time we stumble upon them.

A TeXtreme carbon fiber shell

The shell of the Pro Star is manufactured from a new carbon fiber compound made by TeXtreme. The new material retains the same thickness, but thanks to the different arrangement of the carbon weave, it provides better strength without an adverse impact on weight.

On the inside, the Bell Pro Star is supplied with a new liner that comprises three layers, each with a different density and different energy absorption and dissipation properties. The Flex Impact Liner can provide better response and head protection for crashes occurring at low, medium, and high speed.

The comfort liner is made of a new Virus fabric that incorporates new technologies that make wearing and using it safer and more rewarding. It uses jade-powder infused materials for keeping the rider's head cool, and has an anti-odor anti-microbial treatment, and dries out more quickly than before.

Small and super-strong magnets are used to snap the Magnefusion cheek pads in place. They are also much easier to remove for washing or in case of emergency, and come with special finger pockets for intuitive removal.

Larger field of vision

Bell went a long way to provide the riders using the Pro Star with better vision. The face shield and its port were tweaked and redesigned, so that they now offer better on-track and off-track vision. The Panovision visor now offers a better field of view on both the vertical and horizontal axis, even when the rider is tucked behind the bubble.

Bell announced that no less than five shell sizes would be available for the new helmets, adding to the wearing comfort and contributing to a personalized fit.

The Pro Star will be available later this year, being rumored to show up in shops this summer. We'll try to get one and review it, as it looks almost too good to be true. Enjoy the track antics with Josh Herrin and his Yamaha R1!
