Back in October 2015, Bell introduced the new Pro Star sport motorcycle helmet intended for both street and racing use, and advertised it as one of the most advanced Bell lids of all time. We detailed some of the features of the new series, and now it's time to add one more to the list, the ProFit system.
The ProFit system complements the TeXtreme carbon fiber shell technology by introducing no less than five shell sizes and six sizes for the impact liner. As opposed to Bell, most motorcycle helmet manufacturers usually offer their external shells in two or sometimes three sizes, and mix them with more dimensions for the EPS impact liners.

However, because these dimensions rarely match perfectly, additions must be made and Bell believes this has a negative impact on the quality of the helmet. Namely, by adding extra padding to compensate for these size differences, it introduces an unwanted level of instability, especially at high speeds. This, in turn, brings buffeting, headshakes, and fatigue, and reduces the overall comfort level.

The ProFit System is based on the headform database Bell acquired in over 60 years and has massive input from the company-backed top athletes. Engineered for high-speed riding, the Bell Pro Star lid and the ProFit system deliver a more proportional fit, optimized weight. Riders can tuck their heads in tighter behind a bike's bubble and benefit from improved comfort and aerodynamics, with less buffeting/instability and noise.

It is unclear at the time of writing whether Bell has any plans to extend the ProFit system to other helmets in their range, but if they do, it would be a crucial decision to their advantage.

Bell already have their Custom-Fit program up and running, with laser scanning the heads of the customers so that the impact liner follows the shapes accurately, providing the best fit possible while maximizing protection and optimizing both the weight and the size of the finished helmet.
