We've heard about bears having their way with cars before (whatever their way may be), but is perhaps the first time somebody who owned the car had the inspiration of filming the aftereffects of a bear's visit. A very long visit, as we will see, one which left the Toyota-victim eviscerated.
It all went down last week, in Larkspur, Colorado. In the middle of the night, a citizen called the Douglas County sheriff's department to report that the horn of a car had been honking for no less than 45 minutes. When they arrived, they found the car somewhere in the bushes, close to a residence, with a bear trapped inside.
Obviously, the owner, 17-year-old Ben Story, did not park the car in the bushes, but near his home. The bear apparently sneaked in, opened the door of the car, got into it and managed to close it behind him. To make matters even worse, he knocked the car out of gear, sending it backwards into the bushes, 125 feet down the road. During his ride, the bear managed to turn on the headlights and kept honking the horn.
"So this bear opened the door on his own. Somehow the door closed behind him. He panicked and started thrashing around, hit the shifter and put the car, took it out of park," Ben's father, Ralph told thedenverchannel.com.
"It rolled back, down over the hill, and down into here, and stopped. The four way flashers were on. It's like he knew what was going on, and kept hitting the horn."
Now, this over-excited scenario might be a bit of a stretch, and that's probably not how things went down. The truth remains however, the bear was inside the car, where police found it, and the results of this visit can be seen below.
