Be Ready for Any Outdoor Adventure With the 2021 Toyota Hilux AT35 for £18,780

Toyota recently introduced the 2.8-liter Hilux Invincible X Double Cab across the UK market as a stylish take on the rugged workhorse pickup truck. It goes for £39,675 (roughly $54,261 at the current exchange rates). That's a far cry from the most affordable Hilux Double Cab, which kicks off at £29,145 ($39,869) when selecting the Active trim.

Still, if you’re willing to shell out that kind of money in the first place, why not add another £18,780 ($25,695) plus VAT and have the most extreme Hilux available at Toyota’s local retailers?

That’s exactly the Japanese automaker’s proposition with the newly introduced Hilux Arctic Trucks AT35. The new model combines the expertise of the renowned extreme engineering specialists with the stylish all-terrain qualities of the newly released 2.8-liter Invincible X.

As per tradition, the Double Cab truck will be subjected to massive upgrades touching important areas such as the chassis, suspension, handling, and even the pickup’s design. And we can bet the company is going to deliver since Toyota and Arctic Trucks already have a long-standing relationship – remember that Top Gear journey to the Magnetic North Pole in a Hilux?

With the Hilux AT35 already present in the Arctic Trucks offer page, we can imagine not all the features are new. Still, Toyota promises all the upgrades have led to even better off-road capabilities, including a 65-mm (2.55-in) ground clearance increase, as well as better approach and departure angles (+9 and +3 degrees, respectively).

Noted highlights encompass a reworked frame, modified arches, and bodywork, as well as the addition of 17-inch Arctic Trucks alloys shod with 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires. The Arctic Trucks Bilstein performance suspension system now comes with its own updates, providing extra front and back travel: 40 and 20 mm (1.57 and 0.78 in), respectively.

Arctic Trucks’ own design touches are also present in the form of beefier flared fenders, extended side steps, AT35 logos, and a 30th-anniversary decal. On the other hand, Toyota’s Hilux doesn’t undergo any powertrain changes, so the AT35 carries over the Invincible X 2.8-liter diesel engine that’s capable of sending 201 horsepower to the wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.
