BBR Takes Mazda3 MPS to 350 HP

Look at it from a distance and you’ll think it’s just another five-door hatch, but come a bit closer and the Mazda3 MPS starts to look a bit like a kipper wale on steroids. Despite not benefiting from a major rethink in a long time, the MPS still has a lot of fans in the hothatch industry, and it’s time to look at a tuning project that could change the game.
BBR is a Mazda tuner that has just revealed a bunch of changes for the 3 that can take the output of the 2.3-liter all the way to 350 hp.

The first kit they unveiled is priced at GBP549 and consists of an ECU remap which bring the power to 290 hp, almost as much as the Focus RS. The second stage of the kit adds a new fuel pump, new intake and exhaust bits, including a custom downpipe, with the end result being 300 hp from as low as 4,300 rpm. This costs GBP1,645 plus the GBP395 for installation.

The last stage of tune you can get is the BR Mazda 3 Phase Three kit which offers two offers two turbocharger upgrades options in addition for the Phase 2 conversion. One is a refurbished version of he factory model with added high flow compressor wheel and the other is a brand new Garret hybrid GT28 turbo, both delivering 350 hp in the end.
