In what may be the very first documentary of an electric vehicle trekking the countries of Europe, Norwegian electric carmaker Think announced in has partnered with BBC for a historic trip called BBC Electric Ride.
Aboard a Think City car, presenter Peter Curran and his three member crew will embark next week on a journey which will take them from London to Denmark, then Norway, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain , Portugal and back to England.
BBC Electric Ride will likely become the first documentary starring an electric vehicle. According to Kevin Dawson, BBC Electric Ride senior producer, the Think has been chosen "because it is a ready-to-market fully electric vehicle, with a good driving range and respectable top speed.”
“The basic premise of our show is extremely simple – we want to look at the emergence of electric cars as a dawning reality. By embarking on an ambitious journey like this one, we will be able to share with our listeners the picture across Western Europe. We’ll be investigating the technology, infrastructure and political will behind the growth of EV culture,” Dawson said.
This incredible opportunity for Think has prompted the carmaker into issuing a series of tips for Peter Curran, which will both help him get a greater range and make the car look good on camera.
Think advised Curran to use the throttle wisely and watch the efficiency meter, use the ‘E’ drive function, drive with the windows up and, why not, listen to relaxing music.
"Our top EV driving tips will help them along the way, and I look forward to personally welcoming the team in Oslo next week – a quarter of the way through their expedition,” Richard Canny, Think CEO added.
