Hear ye, hear ye, motorcycle collectors, here's a rare piece of Grand Prix history that's now up for grabs on Ebay. If £150,000 sounds like money you'd spend to add a real GP500 machine to your collection, here's a tip for you.
For $217,450 or €189,200, you can bring home one of Barry Sheene's GP motorcycles, the 1983 Heron Suzuki RGB500 MK8. This is no replica, but the actual bike Sheene used in the 1983 GP500 championship, albeit not his best season by far.

The machine has even more GP history about it, as Sheene's Heron Suzuki colleague Mick Grant used the same motorcycle in 1984. All these facts are well documented, and the machine comes with a known history from new.

In 1983, Barry Sheene's best result was a seventh place in the French GP, and he ended the championship in the 14th position, his third-worst performance of all time. With Mick Grant at the helm, this RG500 claimed a victory at the Macau GP and a second place in the North West 200, visordown reports.

After the bike was decommissioned from GP500, it had four owners, among whom the seller mentions Tony Salt, who got it in 2005. Salt is a friend of Mick Grant's and a well-known name in road racing back in the day, as he did race tyre track support for Michelin since the 60's, and is also a racer. Tony only rode this machine to several parade events.

This Suzuki racer is being sold with two bodywork sets, but the other fairings are a Mick Grant set. The bike is currently equipped with 17" race-grade wheels and the front calipers are four-piston units. However, the original 16" wheels and two-pot calipers of the Heron Suzuki RGB500 are included in the sale, too.

Now, if you want to get this 1983 Heron Suzuki RGB500 MK8 Barry Sheene Mick Grant GP bike, you should know that the price is not firm, as the seller is also open to offers. The bike is located in Warrington, Cheshire, United Kingdom, shipping all over the world.
