Barrichello Wants to Become World Champion in 2010

Another Formula One season has gotten under way this weekend and Rubens Barrichello doesn't seem to change the way he looks at the sport. Most of you might remember that the majority of the recent F1 seasons started with the Brazilian veteran telling the media that he wants to become world champion.

While quite close to doing so last year, with the title winning Brawn GP team, Barrichello insisted that his goal hasn't changed for the 2010 campaign either.

Going into my 18th season I feel like I'm 18-years-old. I'm so motivated, I'm in so much better physical condition than at any other time and I'm feeling good,” said Barrichello in an interview with Abu Dhabi newspaper The National.

The reason why I changed teams is first because I believe very much in Williams, and secondly because I'm still challenging my dream of becoming world champion – and I hope I can bring that good feeling back to Williams. This team deserves it as it's been too long – we have to still believe we can win,” added the Brazilian driver.

Although he'll cross the 300th race mark in Formula One, the former Brawn GP racer insisted this achievement would not be as close to matching a potential world title. If everything goes according to plan, Barrichello will reach the No 307 race start in F1 at the end of this season, further improving his indisputable world record.

My 300th race (most likely in Hungary) is going to be a fantastic achievement, but having said that, my dream is to become world champion. Three hundred is a good number, but I will be fighting for wins, and I hope I'm still competitive for a long time. I would be lying if I said my aim was not to win races and win the championship.
