Barrichello Sets Winning Goal in Monaco

Rubens Barrichello ended the first day in Monaco ahead of teammate and championship leader Jenson Button – during both practice sessions – and feels confident that he can finally turn the table in the 2009 title fight. Following a rather disappointing Spanish Grand Prix two weekends ago – from the team's tactics' point of view – the Brazilian driver was reassured that there won't be any team orders this season.

I was still emotional after the race and I told Ross if something was done for Jenson, I am prepared to go back to Brazil and never come back again. It should be equal terms and he promised me that's how it's going to be so I am very happy with that,” said Barrichello, who is still recuperating from his 6 years as a lieutenant driver for Michael Schumacher, when at Ferrari.

While admitting Button held the upper hand in the championship so far, the F1 veteran believes now it's his turn to highlight in the Brawn GP lineup. And the best way to prove it would be by taking his first win this season, on the streets of Monaco.

I don't see Jenson running far ahead for the whole season. I could even say this time it's my turn. But words mean nothing. I just have to go out there, win the race and shut some people up,” added the Brazilian.

The 36-year old driver is currently 2nd overall in the drivers' standings, some 14 points behind teammate Button. Barrichello is yet to win a race this season, while also attempting to score his first ever win in career on the streets of Monte Carlo.

During the first two practice sessions on Thursday, Barrichello scored the 1st and 3rd best times, respectively.
